BTWI Update – Q2 2026
At BTWI, we believe our customers deserve to know how we are investing in the network they rely on every day. Over the first half of 2026, our team has focused on improving network reliability, increasing capacity, and preparing the network for faster speeds across our service area.
Faster Speeds for Existing Customers
Earlier this year, BTWI launched a network-wide initiative to increase speeds available on existing wireless infrastructure. Our goal is to unify our legacy and Platinum service offerings into a simplified speed structure while providing existing customers with faster speeds at no additional monthly cost. This project requires significant upgrades to transport capacity, backhaul infrastructure, and network equipment throughout our service area. While substantial work remains, some customers have already received upgraded service, and we will continue rolling out these improvements throughout 2026. As speed upgrades become available in each area, BTWI will automatically upgrade customers to the new speed tiers. Customers will be notified as these improvements are deployed.
Building a More Reliable Network
Providing reliable service remains one of BTWI's highest priorities. After more than 18 months of planning, construction, and coordination with multiple providers, BTWI completed the final phase of our geographically diverse fiber redundancy project in June 2026. With the final redundant fiber path now online, all BTWI customers benefit from a network capable of automatically rerouting traffic during many outage scenarios. This investment significantly improves network resiliency and reduces the impact of third-party fiber outages.
Secondary Data Center Project
In addition to completing our fiber redundancy project, BTWI has continued work on a geographically diverse secondary data center designed to further strengthen network resiliency. Once completed, the secondary data center will provide an additional layer of protection for critical network services and further enhance service continuity across the BTWI network. We look forward to completing this project and bringing our full geo-redundancy initiative online by the end of Q3 2026.
Looking Ahead
During the remainder of 2026, BTWI will continue focusing on:
- Delivering faster speeds to existing customers
- Increasing transport and back-haul capacity
- Completing our secondary data center deployment
- Continuing investments in network reliability and resiliency
Thank you for choosing BTWI Wireless Internet. We appreciate the opportunity to serve our communities and look forward to sharing additional updates in the months ahead. Locally Owned. Locally Operated. Serving Rural Iowa Since 2009.
